On this guided overnight trip, experience the wonders of the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert as you journey from Fez. Travel through the stunning natural beauty of the mountains and sandy dunes. Enjoy a unique immersion experience with a camel trek and Berber campfire dinner.
Begin your tour bright and early on the first day and enjoy convenient pickup from your hotel or riad. From there, ride in comfort to the town of Ifrane, built by the French in the 1930s and known as Morocco’s Switzerland. Pause here and admire the quaint architecture and enchanting atmosphere.
Continue onwards through the large cedar forests around the Berber village of Azrou, or “The Rock” in the local Berber dialect. Here, the famous Barbary apes, or macaques, may attempt to partake in your lunch as you sit in their natural habitat. Breathe in the fresh cedar while you snack.
Next, pass through the Atlas Mountains, which are said to hold up the sky. Forested peaks, twisting mountain streams, and steep rock walls decorate your drive to Rissani. Then, once you’ve reached the edge of the Sahara, continue on southwards to Merzouga.
As dusk sets in, set out with your camel on a ninety-minute trek through the unforgettable, shifting desert sands of the Sahara. Arrive at a traditional Berber encampment and settle in for the evening. While you relax, enjoy an authentic Moroccan feast and marvel at the brilliant stars above.
The next morning, wake up to a breathtaking sunrise and enjoy the sights of the dawn breaking over the sandy dunes. Next, you will drive back to Fes or direct transfer to Marrakech.
Excellent for a short trip to Fes with the family! A plus is that there was wifi in the bus all time!
Very nice trip and good organisation. The food and the fire show were very nice. Our tent was beautiful and very clean
very helpful to accommodate our trip from Fez - Merzouga Desert - Marrakech. Ahmed escorted us from our Riad and meet our driver. We used SUV and only 4 of us in a car so it was quite comfortable for a long drive to the desert. The driver was nice and accommodating. We stopped at few points to take pictures and we had a nice lunch stop with reasonable price. Desert camp was superb and very decent for the price, with kingsize bed, private bathroom, hot shower, towels and amenities. Better than expected. We visited on March so the weather was friendly even at night. Extra blankets are provided in case you feel cold. The staffs were friendly and welcoming. After the incredible sunset camel ride, we had dinner and music performance with the bonfire, they let us to try playing the jambe too. Breakfast was also nice with some bread variants, jams, yogurts, juice, tea and coffee. The wind was quite strong so I suggest everyone to bring extra jacket/layers and bring your own turban/scarfs to cover your nose and mouth from the sands (as they didn’t provide us with this). We had no sand-boarding as advertised - maybe because it was too windy. Overall, memorable 2D1N journey. Quick responses, friendly staffs. Recommended.
The trip was amazing, the people was very kind and the bus was very confortable. Also, the food was delicious.
It was a great experience! Everything went smooth, the guide in the desert was lovely and the camp was made with a lot of love. The food could have had a lottle more flavor to it but I would not critize it, given the whole experience. We're we only in Fez for 3 days and would do the trip again to the desert 100%.
