Explore the coastal town of Essaouira, visit the colorful port and decorative medina, spot goats clambering up argan trees, and stroll along the sandy beach and rock pools on a scenic day trip…
Be picked up from your hotel in Agadir bright and early. Begin your trip along the picturesque R207 coastal route. Make a stop to see the argan trees where small goats climb up the lower branches and feed. Spot sometimes over 20 goats sitting up in one tree. Snap some photos of this fascinating sight. Arrive in the port where you’ll see the vast expanse of the North Atlantic Ocean. Head into the vibrant old town (medina), a stunning world heritage site. View the majestic, old brass cannons that line the walls, and ramparts to protect the seafront from ancient invasions. Stop off at a women’s cooperative where argan oil is produced. Learn how oil is extracted from the kernels of argan trees. See how it is used in cuisine as an accompaniment to Moroccan bread and in beauty products for the skin and hair. Finally, enjoy the spectacular sunset as you return to Agadir.
We opted for a private tutor and our guide was Hassan. The private tutor was better for us as we weren't on anyone's else time so no rushing around or wait around on other members of a large group. Hassan was quite informative, he gave us some good information on the land of morocco and the history of the Argan trees and the fruit which is only found in Morocco. We drove through a village known as banana village on on our to Essauoira. We purchases some bananas on our journey back at the end of our trip. We stopped by an Argan factory to see how they source the Argan fruit and met the ladies that produce some of the Argan products. They were lovely and very welcoming with memorable smiles. Hassan took us through the fresh catch market to see where the locals sell all their freshly caught seafood and fish from their daily fresh catch of the day. I felt so enticed by it all. I wanted to purchase some fresh seafood but I had to think once as I knew that it wouldn't keep fresh in the heat of the car for the journey back to our hotel in Agadir. The sea view by the old cannons were breath-taking. Hassan took us through the souk otherwise known as the market square of Essaouira, it had different qualities to the Marrakech square souk, not bad at all just differences but both are beautiful and an experience to be enjoyed. The beach was very peaceful and stunning and we did not want to leave, we could have stay a good couple of hours more. By the end we just stood on the beach shore just welcoming the weaves that crashed into our ankles and feet whilst taking in the heat from the sun ray and serenity of the scenery. It was a great way to end our tutor trip. I cannot wait to go again, Many thanks to Hassan !
An amazing day in Essaouira, such a beautiful place with so much history and curiosities. A big shout-out to the Tour Guide Zaid! One of the best guides I came across, super professional with so much knowledge and insights about the city, culture, and tips about the country. Everything was on time and the day journey was smooth and well-balanced to learn, enjoy the wonderful food, and explore the city.
Great day and great value! No more than 15 or 16 and our guide was very informative and our driver great too. I found Essaouira to be well worth seeing and enjoyed the stop offs along the way. Thanks guys
driving around and seeing many parts of Morocco was amazing , our trip to Essaouira with a very nice and informative driver/guide was an unique experience , Essaouira worth to be booked and to be visited.
Amazing full day trip! Along the way to Essaouira we had few stops one of which was the Argan goats tree which was fascinating and just so cool to see. When we arrived in Essaouira our guide Zaid gave us a tour around Essaouira and told us so much about the town and the Moroccan traditions. He was excellent. Definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to get away for a day and explore more of Morocco.
