Discover the edge of the Sahara Desert on a three-day budget tour from Marrakech, and explore the dramatic landscapes of the Dades Valley and Kasbah of Ouarzazate. Ride across the dunes of Erg Chebbi by camel and sleep at a desert camp under the stars…
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Begin your journey by crossing the High Atlas Mountains past one Berber village after another to the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. This village is famous for its kasbah and fortified village and has been used as a set for some famous Hollywood epics and magazine photo shoots. After some leisure time, enjoy lunch in a local restaurant and continue your drive through Ouarzazate, known as the Gate of the Sahara. Continue to Boumalne Dades, admiring the scenic drive along the Dades Valley, where you can enjoy dinner and rest for the night at Kasbah Amazigh or Hotel Chems.
Day 2: Dades – Todgha Gorges – Merzouga Following breakfast, depart your hotel and drive to Tinghir and its dramatic Todgha Gorges, pausing for some free time to explore the canyons. Enjoy lunch at a local cafe and continue to Merzouga to meet your camel caravan. Experience the Erg Chebbi dunes on camelback and watch the sunset set. Reach your desert camp before nightfall and enjoy an authentic Moroccan dinner under the stars. Local nomads will provide entertainment and show you how to play the traditional Tam Tam drums. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stop.
Day 3: Merzouga Ouarzazate – Marrakech Following an early wake-up to watch the sunrise before breakfast (optional), a driver will be waiting to pick you up for the transfer back to Marrakech. Stop halfway for lunch at a local restaurant. Get dropped off at your original departure point or Djemaa El Fna around 8 PM. You can also book upgrades for the night in the Bedouin camp such as the deluxe desert camp with a luxury private tent complete with an ensuite shower, bathroom facilities, and 5-star amenities. These upgrades need to be booked per person.

I had a great time on this trip. The person who made it most memorable was Ahmed the driver. An extremely professional and pleasant person who took care of us all the way.
The trip was a well organised, enjoyable experience. The scenic aspect of the trip was unreal. Special thanks to our driver, Ibrahim.
Perfect few days touring through the Atlas Mountains and into the Sahara desert. Our driver, was great with our group - giving us regular stops on the way and helping bring the experience together. On the way to the desert you stop off at some really cool places and are given tours around the areas. The only thing I would say is that the lunch stops are a bit more expensive (around 100/120 MAD a person) and the tour guides expect a small tip. The desert experience itself was great. Your bags are kept at the hotel in Merzouga, and you take small overnight bag to the camp. In the camp we were given our own room (travelling with my girlfriend) and the facilities were also really good. Stepping outside the camp and looking up at the night sky was definitely a highlight of our trip! Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about experiencing a taste of the Sahara.
Our tour guide was amazing. So nice and accommodating. Anytime we wanted a photo of the scenery he would stop and allow us to get out of the van. Many stops along the way since it was a long journey from Marrakech. He always made sure everyone was comfortable. The 3 desert tour was great, especially for the price. The desert got pretty cold at night so bring layers but it was a fun time. Singing and dancing around the fire in the evening after a lovely meal. Ait Ben Hadou was an amazing visit, they’ve filled over 20 movies in this village and it was really cool to meet some of the locals. Met so many people and overall a great time! Not all meals are included so bring some cash with you as not all places take card.
the desert tour was absolutely amazing. You experience so much and get to know so many beautiful places. Our bus driver was really great. A good and trustworthy driver and such a kind, warm, loving and honest person. We will remember him forever and hope to see him again soon! Both the first overnight stay in the hotel was in a beautiful hotel with extremely nice staff and the overnight stay in the desert camp was great. Here, too, you could see how hard and beautifully everything was done and how cool and hospitable the staff were. The food was good and especially as vegetarians we got through very well. Everyone was extremely helpful, hospitable and caring. You will spend a lot of hours on the bus, but it's absolutely worth it. Thank you for the wonderful time and the very special experience. We would love to do it again straight away!
