Experience the beauty of the Ourika Valley up-close on this full-day scenic tour from Marrakesh, and escape the hustle and bustle of the city for the day…
The Ourika Valley is the closest day trip from Marrakesh, but it’s not just its convenience that makes it special. Drive towards the Atlas Mountains, taking in the beautiful landscape of green meadows and authentic 16th and 17th-century Berber villages. If you take your tour on a Monday, you can even stop at a roadside souk. See fruit orchards, vegetable terraces, and villages clinging to the side of hills. Marvel at the labor undertaken by the Berbers who hoisted materials to construct small houses up mountainsides, and work the terraces in a hostile environment. Continue along the valley of palm trees, following the Ourika River. Fruit trees, tiny hamlets, riverside restaurants, and the summer homes of the wealthy will keep you occupied. Go to Setti Fatma to feel the refreshing waters. Feel the spray on your face as you cool down from the African heat, along with the locals of Marrakech who have made it their favorite weekend retreat.
What to bring
Muhammad was a very good guide, he was very enjoyable as he told us good facts also. Recommend him for everyone.
The tour guide was exceptional, providing us with extensive information and displaying a warm and welcoming demeanor throughout the entire experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with them.
A large group of us took a trip to the Ourika mountains and were taken on a tour of Sti Fadma by Hassan. Hassan was incredibly knowledgable and gave us loads of information about the village, Berber culture, and the language, as well as guiding us through the village and towards the mountains where he took his time to help people climb/scramble over the rocks in order to get a view of the beautiful waterfalls. The village itself is incredibly colourful and a real change compared to Marrakech, it's a must see if you're in the area for its cultural value. There are lots of artisans making gifts/trinkets/curiosities and unlike in Marrakech you can actually see a lot of them working, so you know you aren't just buying tat from China. There is a lot of history to be learned, and everybody is incredibly friendly. Very interesting and informative. If you are comfortable doing a bit of hiking and scrambling, it's well worth going as high as your guide will take you in order to appreciate the amazing views. Hassan let us know from the start that there were 3 different levels that could be climbed to in order to see different waterfalls, and that some were more suitable than others for people of different abilities. My partner and I went all the way to the highest platform along with a few friends, and Hassan was more than happy to go at an appropriate pace for everyone.
We had a great hike to Ourika falls with Hassan. He was very knowledgeable and told us a lot about the nature in the area, which we found very interesting. We recomend this to everyone!
Hassan was an amazing, knowledgeable, trustworthy guide. He speaks 5 languages fluently, and had the best English we heard in Morocco. He also never seemed to get out of breath, teaching us all about Berber history as we hiked amongst the waterfalls.
